The goal of anticoagulation therapy with warfarin (Coumadin) is to decrease the clotting ability of your blood so that blood clots are prevented. The most important aspect of warfarin therapy is to keep your levels within a therapeutic range. If your level goes too low, you are at risk for blood clots, if it goes too high, you are at risk for bleeding. Many factors can affect your level.
